According to Resolution No. 6 of December 14, 1994, Mr. Rector of the University created the Institute for the Integration of Knowledge, taking into account: 1) the need to promote a dialogue between theologians, philosophers and scientists capable of deeply renewal attitudes and lead to new and fruitful relations between the Christian faith, theology, philosophy and science, in particular its search for truth; 2) that the increase of knowledge in our time, which adds to the growing specialization of knowledge within each academic discipline, require that a Catholic University that knowledge toward real integration of knowledge, guided by the scientific contributions of philosophy and theology.

The Institute for the Integration of Knowledge of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina "Santa Maria de los Buenos Aires" aims to establish, through an analysis of the different fields of knowledge, a system in order to relational linking Science, Philosophy and Theology, which must be taken into account for adequate explanation of the problems in these fields arise.

The carrying out the so-called integration of knowledge itself is a function of the University. This task is the task group and involves the collaboration of scientists, philosophers, theologians, with the assumptions of willingness to meet and attempt to mutual understanding. This task is continuous, because they never wear out the problems and issues are always new. And it is also difficult because one of its assumptions, adequate knowledge of what we now call "science", is highly problematic.

The task of evangelization, as implied dialogue with culture, finds a suitable field at the Catholic University. Each professor at the AAU, by the mere fact of being, must integrate its dedication to the study and education with the ethical-religious purposes, and be a living example for their students.

He plays as a specific task to the Catholic University, as such, the aspiration and effort to conduct an internal form of articulation, a body which is a kind of unity of knowledge.
